I learned about Wupatki from a Navajo woman working at the Desert View Watchtower and spent the early morning walking and photographing as I traveled through the park.
I was glad to read that restoration philosophy had evolved beginning in the 50’s into preservation since it is impossible to know how the original structures were built. Many of the earlier reconstruction work was taken down to their original state.
