Access to the parks can be challenging for multiple days and nights. I managed to find forest roads to boondock and explore the park areas. It can take over 2 hours to drive from one end to the other, via 180 and Generals Highway. There are some narrow passages that might be best for fairweather, daylight driving. And because of the elevation, sections are often closed into May due to snow.
The big trees (Congress Trail to Trail of the Sequoias Loop and vicinity have an amazing group of sequoias), mountains and rivers made for some more great adventures, especially my 3 day, 2 night backpacking trip to sub-alpine lakes (in an upcoming blog). The following images are from a few days on short loops, taken at the popular trails where the famous giant sequoias can be found. And finally, images from a day hike at the end of the road in Kings Canyon to a rapid moving waterfall called Mist Falls.
