Sierra Nevada Part 2
Basecamp Near Mono Lake
I was so excited to find this boondocking site near Mono Lake as a basecamp for many of the trips in the area! It was so beautiful and quiet- I didn’t want to leave.
North Peak I headed south towards Yosemite and found this amazing alpine peak off Tioga Pass road! A narrow one lane road led to the start at Shadow Lakes. A few miles from there and you reach an upper stretch which was more of the steep scree scramble! 12,232’. I love being able to access these amazing alpine environments that at the right time have just enough snow, water, etc. to see waterfalls, flowers and hopefully mosquitos, not so much.
I traded taking photos with you guy who blew by me with his dog. Note: I took a photo of him standing on the rock I was leaning on… sheer drop on two sides!
Reversed Peak Short but sweet. This out and back takes you to a perch with more 3Sixty views!
View north of Mono Lake. My boondocking/basecamp just right of center below the lake
Parker Lake Short morning hike that brought the views.
Fern Lake Steep morning hike. What a spot!
Looking back towards Silver Lake. I had visited this area last year and did one of my favorite backpacking loops to Thousand Island Lake.
