Glacier National Park Part 3
Last but not least, I managed to get in 2 final hikes that weren’t closed to bear activity. I was lucky and got to experience 2 trails that closed the day after I got on them.
I had peered down from the Highline trail from the Grinnell Glacier Overlook earlier and was excited to see the glacier up close. An early start paid off again and I was able to get images without the crowds of people that poured in late morning. I can’t imagine what George Bird Grinnell felt when he first saw the Glacier in 1885. I was obviously much larger then and now smaller and split in two the upper glacier was named as the Salamander glacier. Pretty amazing life and contribution to conservation.
Swiftcurrent Pass Trail to Swiftcurrent Mountain
3 of the trails I was on offered views from either opposite sides or adjacent to one of the other trails. Interesting to see the near locations from different angles. This is the last in the Glacier series. A long hike with amazing views!
