A special invitation | Una invitación especial
One of the big reasons I wanted to go to Mexico was to be immersed in the culture and to get to know the people from a personal perspective. I have met friends through friends and was honored to be invited to a Temazcal in Santa Teresa.
We began work on the circular lodge with materials at hand. A hole was dug to later place the heated volcanic rocks in the center. The women prepared the fire and also food for after the ceremony.
Una de las razones principales por las que quería ir a México era sumergirme en la cultura y conocer a las personas desde una perspectiva personal. He conocido amigos a través de amigos y me siento honrado de haber sido invitado a un temazcal en Santa Teresa.
Comenzamos a trabajar en la cabaña circular con materiales a mano. Se cavó un agujero para luego colocar las rocas volcánicas calentadas en el centro. Las mujeres prepararon el fuego y también comida para después de la ceremonia.
I appreciated the reverence that was shown while everything was prepared before we took our place inside the lodge to experience our own type of healing and "rebirth".
Aprecié la reverencia que se mostró mientras todo estaba preparado antes de tomar nuestro lugar dentro del albergue para experimentar nuestro propio tipo de curación y "renacimiento".
A time to heal. I will always be grateful to my friends, Victor, Marisol, Sol and Javier (who performed the ceremony) for this special invitation and day together. With special thanks to Omar and Victoria for braving the unexpected traffic for my ride back to Guanajuato!
