Finding America: Petrified Forest National Park
I noticed this park when I was plotting my route from Flagstaff, AZ to Albuquerque, NM. I remember hearing about these trees years ago.
The park has one road that runs the length of the park. It’s not a grand park in size, but definitely worth the trip, especially if it’s something along your route.
I can imagine the minimalistic views in the park would change dramatically with different light (as in many parks). Different day, different colors.
Tip: Ask the park ranger for locations of hikes from parking locations.
Like most places, you can experience so much more when you get out off the roads or well traveled paths.

I am currently getting my domicile set up near family in Texas and planning to loop back out to west in April.
