Further south in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, was a remote hike off the PCT trail which could be accessed off a long winding forest road. I found a great spot to park overnight near the trailhead. After a rainy night, I expected to find some snow up high.
The morning abrubtly took an interesting turn when I noticed a blood vessel had burst in my right eye. Due to an earlier operation for a torn retina, I wasn’t sure if this was just a “Subconjunctival hemorrhage” or something more. I made the decision to head back into town to check in the emergency room. This meant driving an hour over a rough road at 6am and then an hour back… Not the most fun, but I think I got a bit more views for my troubles.
It proved to be an overcast day with limited views, but the fast moving clouds where entertaining as they came up from the valley below.
