Lassen Volcanic National Park- Hiking Volcanoes
This would be my second time visiting this national park. It was earlier in the season this time, with snowfields spotting the upper elevations. The morning that I set out to hike was calm and I had the entire peak to myself until I started heading back down late morning.

Lassen Peak
I researched other hikes in the area and this one did not disappoint! Also, found a great Boondocking (free camping) site nearby that allowed for a rest day and early start.

This is a very popular area for hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.

Getting out in the mountains in the shoulder seasons requires a bit more planning. But I love the variety of terrain!
