Finding America: Calling an Audible
Update: Early arrival in Texas. Connecting with Family after almost 2 years.
It was an early October launch heading south to Texas. 4 days. 2000+- miles. Impromptu nightly urban parking lot stays (Boondocking). I hoped to share more trip details, but they were long drive days. It’s been a busy month!
The plan was to get some road time in before visiting family but the situation called for switching things up. October has included all of the above as well as moving family, moving myself (with storage) and periodically finalizing my living set up for the road.
Texas will be my launching pad/domicile. It will allow me to visit family and an address to use to come to see doctors, lawyers, accountants as well as vehicle registration, voting, etc. as I travel full-time. When you don’t have a physical address, Texas, South Dakota and Florida are typically the best choices for claiming a domicile (when you are on the road full-time) due to state laws.
My unexpected early departure date resulted in missed goodbyes with friends and business associates. It meant playing my “Family First” card. Thank you for understanding.
Next phase…
I have somewhat intentionally left the road logistics up in the air, hoping to settle into a completely foreign routine and am looking forward to planning less, experiencing more.
After things settle in Texas, I am looking at a trip west (possibly Big Bend National Park area) for a month or so, circle back for the holidays and relaunch west. I’ll be watching weather and testing out my set-up. As much as I hope to find/take images around the US, other outdoor adventures will be my fuel as always.
